Contributors
The people behind Visor — and how to join them.
IO-ZetZor maintainer
Creator and maintainer. Author of the entire codebase — the boot manager, the GUI and animation engine, the fixed-point Material You color pipeline, the AArch64 port, the encryption tooling, the installer and CLI, and this documentation. Tests every release on real hardware.
Feature contributions
Work that arrived as a handoff rather than a commit.
Authored the animated-intro handoff that became the intro
feature in 1.5.7 — the optional clip or still played once before the menu,
skippable with any key — plus the configurable autoboot_key
(PR #39) and the USB installation guide (PR #41) in 1.5.9.
Bug reports
Reports that drove fixes in 1.5.9: @Senna-chan (#38, the TPM probe hang), @HaleTom (#44, Visor listing itself; #43, BLS) and @DarryDoo (the long-running #8 early-boot thread). Earlier #8 reports from @ArchitB17976, @MartinTeunisse and @nwgat narrowed down the entry-point console hang.
Pull requests
Code that arrived as a reviewed pull request.
PR #37 reworked the Windows chainload path and BootNext
handoff, sorted BLS records without an ostree index, documented Secure Boot
via shim + MOK including BitLocker and TPM notes, and embedded an
.sbat section in the EFI image. Merged for 1.5.8.
All contributors, live
Everyone who has pushed commits to the repository, pulled straight from GitHub the moment you open this page.
Community
Visor's reliability owes a lot to users who tested early builds on real
machines and sent in boot.log files and firmware quirk reports — much
of the hardening in every release came straight from those reports. Thank
you.
Acknowledgements
- rEFInd — the massive inspiration for what a boot menu should feel like.
- gnu-efi — the freestanding UEFI toolchain Visor builds on.
- EfiFs (Pete Batard) — the filesystem drivers Visor can install for non-FAT volumes. Visor ships its own build with an added read cache (IO-ZetZor/EfiFs); everything else is unchanged from upstream.
- @4ceWolf — the animated-intro handoff that became the
introboot splash feature. - materialyoucolor — the reference Material You color implementation.
